Nelson Street

Project: Bathroom renovation

Location: West End, Townsville

Brief: The Nelson Street bathroom renovation involved transforming two separate, outdated bathroom and toilet areas, into one modern and stylish bathroom, packed with high-quality features.

The clients were wanting a functional yet stylish bathroom to cater for all family members and they put their trust in the Townsend Constructions NQ (TCNQ) team to bring their dreams to reality.

Work completed: Working closely with the client, TCNQ was able to create a bathroom that included a double shower, bathtub, toilet and custom-built vanity (which was built out of wood from the house) within the 8sqm space. We rebuilt all the bathroom walls and laid floor-to-ceiling tiles, in three different designs. Installed a spacious double shower, with classic black shower heads to match the other black fittings throughout the bathroom.

The client's requested a deep bathtub for their young children, as well as a relaxing space for the adults to enjoy. TCNQ installed a statement pendant light over the bathtub, to enable it to be transformed from functional to a beautiful and relaxing area for the adults.

The custom-built vanity is complemented by a stylish mirror above, with in-built backlight.

Other major works in this bathroom included all new timber framing, new drainage, pipe and electrical work, deep niches for the shower and bathtub, replacement of all windows and a new toilet. This was all done in the space of two working weeks and was delivered on budget.

The quality and attention to detail were second-to-none with a number of challenges requiring technical skills and craftsmanship to deliver a flawless product.

One of the major challenges included ensuring the grout lines matched when laying three different styles of tile and keeping the theme of the bathroom flowing well considering there were so many different elements.

The finished product was a stylish and practical bathroom that will cater for the clients and their young children for years to come.
